Our Story

Trescowthick Wines is a family-owned, Adelaide Hills based grape grower and wine producer.

Tresco Wines was founded in 2017 when Alex and his wife Julia, purchased an 11.6 acre organically certified cherry and apple orchard in Lenswood, Adelaide Hills. In 2019 they removed one of the cherry blocks to plant their first vineyard.

In addition to growing their own fruit, they source grapes from other small growers in the Adelaide Hills. The Chardonnay is from Echunga and Pinot Noir from Carey Gully (Piccadilly). They also make a Strathbogie Ranges Pinot Noir, grown by Alex’s parents.

Each wine is made with a healthy balance of new and old-world winemaking methods to gently nurse the fruit through the winemaking process to bottle. Balance, texture and regional expression are their focus.

Alex was raised on vineyards in the Strathbogie Ranges in the 90’s, studied Winemaking in the early 2000’s and on completion moved to South Australia in 2006.

Alex has a wealth of winemaking experience including vintages in the Napa Valley, Arbois (Jura), Rheinhessen (Germany), Margaret River, Hunter Valley and throughout South Australia. Alex completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Wine Science) from Charles Sturt University.

As well as running the family vineyard and making wine, Alex is passionate about driving and representing the future of the Adelaide Hills wine region. He is the current President of the Adelaide Hills Wine Region Association, Chair of the associated Grape and Environment Committee and Board Member of the South Australian Wine Industry Association (SAWIA).

His wife and three children promise to help him in the vineyard and winery. He looks forward to this coming true one day…
